Beloit may soon have a permanent police chief. Interim Chief David Zibolski has been running the police department since June, following the city manager’s ouster of previous Chief Norm Jacobs on questions of management. The Police and Fire Commission recently chose interim Rockford Police Chief Patrick Hoey for the job, but Commission Chair Marty Densch says the city council made it clear they preferred Zibolski. The commission voted three-to-one Tuesday night in favor of Zibolski. Densch says it was clear to PFC members that Beloit residents also wanted Zibolski. He calls the re-vote “somewhat unprecedented”.
