Janesville School District employees won’t have to pay a surcharge to have their spouse on their health insurance plan any time sign.
Last year the School Board approved a $150 spousal surcharge, however it was rescinded a short time later.
Commissioner Steve Huth decided to bring the idea back, saying he felt $50 was more appropriate. The measure failed Tuesday evening with only Huth, Commissioner Bill Sodemann, and Commissioner Michelle Haworth voting yes.
If the $50 surchage was approved, it would have generated about $180,000 for the district.
