A $2000 cash bond is set for a 44-year-old Janesville School District teacher accused of having a year-and-a-half long sexual relationship with a female student.
At his initial appearance (Monday) in Rock County Court Aaron O’Reilly’s defense attorney Nicholas Gansner argued that a signature bond would be sufficient.
The prosecution asked for a $20,000 cash bond.
O’Reilly is charged with repeated sexual assault of a child and child enticement.
According to the criminal complaint the assaults took place in a science supply closet at Edison Middle School, at O’Reilly’s home in Edgerton during summer break, and at the victim’s home before school.
The situation came to light when O’Reilly told his counselor about the relationship. As a mandatory reporter, the counselor reported the situation to police.
O’Reilly’s preliminary hearing is set for May 23rd.
