A 29-year-old Janesville man accused of attacking his estranged wife with a hammer will spend the maximum time possible in the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison.
Rock County Judge James Daley found Michael C. Hadley not guilty of attempted first-degree intentional homicide by reason of mental disease or defect.
Hadley will be committed for for 45 years or until the Department of Health Services deems he’s no longer a threat to the community.
Hadley was arrested in October of last year after police say he hit the mother of his child in the head repeatedly with both sides of a claw hammer.
