Janesville firefighters recover body from Rock River

Janesville police have confirmed a body was found in the Rock River on Thursday morning.  A man was seen jumping in the river from the Centerway Bridge in downtown Janesville on Monday night but had not been found in searches Tuesday and Wednesday.  Janesville firefighters searching the river by boat Thursday found the body around 11 a.m. near the Court Street Bridge, which is two bridges downstream from Centerway.  The body has not been identified. More information will be released after an autopsy is performed, said police Lt. Keith Lawver.  Wednesday, police said the man probably was a Janesville man named James N. Brieske who had been reported missing after relatives and friends told police they hadn’t seen Brieske since Monday.
