Local unemployment dips in April

Finding a job in Rock County may be getting a little easier.   The Department of Workforce Development reports Wisconsin is one of only ten states with an annual average unemployment rate lower than the year before the start of the great recession. April’s unemployment numbers appear to support that trend. The DWD says Rock County’s unemployment rate was down .7% from March, to 4.6%. Rock County’s experience is echoed statewide with unemployment rates going down in all but three Wisconsin counties, and all of the metropolitan areas. The state unemployment rate currently sits at 4.3%.
