The Blackhawk Golden K’s gathered in Janesville’s Kiwanis Park Wednesday to retire American Flags. Organizer David Soderberg says betweeen 550 and 600 worn or damaged American flags were contributed for ceremonial incineration. 15-year-old Life Scout from Troop 539 Daniel O’leary was among those gathered in the park to help properly destroy the flags in four separate burn barrels. The Golden K’s perform the annual ceremony on the Wednesday closest to Flag Day which is June 14th.
