Increase in State aid doesn’t amount to much for Janesville School District

Although the State Department of Public Instruction’s July first general aid estimates indicate that the School District of Janesville will receive an additional $1.4 million next year, the numbers can be deceiving.
District Chief Financial Officer Keith Pennington says the property tax cap is down about $1.1 million which equals a total increase of about $280,000.
Pennington says $280,000 may seem like a lot of money but the district’s total budget is $140 million.
The numbers are just and estimate, the district should receive it’s final certificate on October 15th.
