The Lieutenant Governor shares a tale of “then and now” with Beloit Business leaders. Rebecca Kleefisch told a breakfast gathering of the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce Thursday, Wisconsin has a problem when it comes to available jobs. She says six years ago, we’d lost 133,000 jobs and the unemployment rate was at 9.2% with far more people seeking jobs than available. That appears to have changed. Now Kleefisch says the Department of Workforce Development website has 92,000 jobs posted, but only 44,000 on unemployment. The problem is apparently a lack of workers with the proper skills. The Lieutenant Governor indicated how more communities could learn from Beloit’s example of businesses working with education to ensure training opportunities for needed skills.
