The number of “Drug Drop Boxes” in Rock County is growing. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is the latest location. Janesville Mobilizing 4 Change Director Sarah Johnson calls it a good spot. Johnson says the drop boxes are having a real impact in reducing improper use. She says it takes dangerous medications out of medicine cabinets and away from would-be abusers. Johnson says the number of locations has an impact on the amount of old, unwanted, or otherwise unusable prescription and over the counter drugs people turn in. Last year 4000 pounds of drugs were recovered. Johnson says other locations include the police departments in Janesville, Beloit, the Town of Beloit, Milton, Edgerton, and Evansville.
