Former Janesville school clerk sentenced to prison

The principal at Janesville’s Craig High School calls a former clerk’s theft of more than $300,000 from student activity accounts a betrayal. The Rock County District Attorney says Jessica Warner-Reed’s actions had a vast impact on students and the community. Even Judge Michael Haakenson described her actions as a sophisticated crime, and said a message needed to be sent to the community.  Despite the recommendation of five-years in prison from the prosecution, Judge Haakenson rationalized his sentenced of two-years by explaining how more time in prison would delay Warner-Reed’s ability to pay restitution. Warner reed was also sentenced to three-years extended supervision and 12-years probation.
