Janesville officials pleased with centralized absentee ballot location

Janesville city officials are pleased with how the trial of a new centralized absentee ballot counting location performed Tuesday, but have some ideas for added streamlining.
City Clerk-Treasurer Dave Godek says he’d like to reduce paperwork.
Godek adds he’d also like to eliminate tally slips for each ballot instead of just assigning numbers to them.
Godek says poll workers at the location counted 1,450 absentee ballots and expect more than 10,000 in the general election.
Poll workers counted absentee ballots from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
