Beloit College Mindset List shows an impatient class of 2020

While the incoming college class of 2020 is surely looking to forge ahead, Beloit College’s annual Mindset List released today is here to provide them with a little background.
One of the Mindset List authors, Beloit College director of public affairs emeritus Ron Nief, says that for this class of students, born in 1998, the world has been fairly predictable — the country has always been at war, and a Bush and a Clinton have always been campaigning for something big.
Because of constant technological innovation in their lives, Nief describes the class of 2020 as one that has never quite learned how to wait.
But he says it’s also a class that understands how the world is connected, especially when diseases like West Nile, which has existed as long as the class of 2020 has, can spread across the globe so quickly.
The list also shows that for this class there have always been Cadillac Escalades and eBay, cloning has been a mundane lab procedure, the U.S. population has always grown by more than one million Latinos per year, airline tickets have always been purchased online.
