Janesville’s unemployment rate dips surprising low. Few people would have likely predicted these unemployment numbers eight year’s ago when the Janesville area was at the top of the state unemployment figures. The Department of Workforce Development reports the Janesville-Beloit area has the largest 12-month decline for unemployment in the state. The DWD says the unemployment rate for July is 4.3% … a full percentage point lower than a year ago, and half-a-point lower than the month before. The numbers indicate July’s local rates follow last weeks U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates showing the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is at a 15 year-low.
