The long vacant former Menards building at the corner of Humes Road and I-39/90 may get a facelift soon.
The Janesville Plan Commission is expected to set a public hearing for November 7th to discuss creation of tax incremental financing district 37.
The 18.64 acre TIF would include the former Menards site as well as five adjoining parcels of land fronting North Pontiac Drive.
A memo from Janesville Economic Development Director Gal Price says that the TIF is intended to facilitate re-purposing the 78,000 square foot former Menards building into a multi-tenant retail building.
The Plan Commission is scheduled to set the public hearing for the project when they meet at 6:30 Monday evening.
