Trial date set in case of murdered five-year-old Beloit boy

No deal in the case of a 24-year-old man accused in the shooting death of a little boy in Beloit last January.  The attorney for Sergio Ortiz-Raygoza says a resolution could not be reached with the District Attorney’s office this morning in Rock County Court requested a date for a jury trial.  Ortiz-Raygoza is accused of being in a carload of young men during the night of the shooting, when five-year-old Austin Ramos Junior died while sitting in the backseat of his father’s car.  Two confidential informants in the car told police the motive for the shooting was the killing of Ortiz-Ragoza’s brother in October of last year.  Three other men were also charged with being Party to First Degree Intentional Homicide.  A jury trial is scheduled for February 27th.
