A man who burglarized and stole to pay for his heroin habit is sentenced to four years in prison.
35-year-old Chad W. Scheidegger faced charges dating to 2015.
According to statements made in court Wednesday Scheidegger was given a chance to avoid prison by going through Rock County drug court, but he started taking heroin again this year and again committed crimes to support his habit.
Scheidegger was sentenced on charges of party to theft from an elderly person, resisting an officer, misappropriating an identity to obtain money, four counts of theft, four counts of burglary and bail jumping for committing crimes while out on bond for pending cases.
The sentence was the result of a plea agreement in which Scheidegger pleaded guilty the reduced set of charges.
