A Janesville police officer had a little trouble administering a field sobriety test over the weekend, saying the suspect was so impaired he could not walk without assistance. Police say 60-year-old Verlan K. Shirley of Janesville was pulled over near the landfill on Blackbridge Road after his vehicle moved out of its lane and almost hit a police squad. The officer says Shirley then nearly crossed over the center-line twice. Shirley was arrested on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated 6th Offense.
