The Janesville Performing Arts Center announces the return of Local Talent Month taking place the entire month of January.  Local Talent Month at JPAC was created to celebrate all of the amazing local talents within Janesville and the surrounding communities.

The month kicks off with a staged reading of ATLAS PIT by former native Janesville resident Alex Burkart. This staged reading contains strong language and adult situations, is $10 per ticket, and will be performed January 6 & 7 at 7:30pm and January 8 at 2:00pm.

The month continues with the Zac Matthews Band taking the stage on Friday, January 13 at 7:30pm. In 2014 Zac Matthews was named Best New Male Act in Country Music in Nashville’s Country Showdown.

On Sunday, January 15 at 2:00pm, the Turtle Creek Chamber Orchestra will perform the joys of classical, contemporary and POP music sure to appeal to every taste.

Then, on Friday, January 20 at 7:30pm the GoDeans take the JPAC stage. The GoDeans are a Janesville-based rock band that includes Dr. Mitch Kopnick, Dr. Bill Clanfield, Dr. Mark McDade, Dr. Tim Axe, Dave Booth, Joan Neeno, Kalynn Baumann and Kim White.

Offering some family entertainment, JPAC continues the month with the Susan Picking Sing-a-long, a part of JPAC’s Culver’s Family Series on Saturday, January 21 at 2pm.  Susan Picking is a piano playing, ukulele strumming, and award winning singer/songwriter who has toured the United States and internationally with her message driven songs.

The following afternoon on Sunday, January 22 at 2pm, JPAC will present a FREE screening of the film by Wisconsin Public Television: Wisconsin Winter from the Air. This beautiful film is composed by local Janesville resident Matthew Hollingsworth. Matthew will offer a brief talk-back after the screening of the film.

JPAC’s Local Talent month concludes with the second annual Folk at 408 event on Saturday, January 28 at 7pm. Folk at 408 will showcase Wisconsin’s singer/songwriter community of musicians including Whitney Mann, Lost Lakes, Hayward Williams, Paul Otteson, Simon Balto, Listening Party and Seasaw. Money raised from this event will give community members in the area who are financially less fortunate a chance to experience all that the arts have to offer through the “Arts for Everyone” scholarship program.

The Janesville Performing Arts Center serves the greater Rock County area through performances and events produced by 15 local non-profit arts groups. The center’s 633 seat theatre, lobby, art gallery, box office, and administrative office are located in the historic Janesville High School/Marshall Junior High School building in downtown Janesville.  Visit our website at www.janesvillepac.org.
