AUDIO REPORT: Millennials prompting changes in Janesville companies

A local business membership organization is attempting to better prepare employers for the Millennial generation. Forward Janesville President John Beckord says some managers might be struggling to understand today’s younger workers. He says his research shows Millennials aren’t necessarily lazy or difficult to manage, but do come from different set of social circumstances, compared to the now retiring Baby-Boom generation. He adds with a dwindling supply of skilled workers, employers may need to be flexible in their management style. Like it or not, he says the age group, roughly between 12 and 34, will soon make up the bulk of the workforce. An article in the latest Forward Janesville Report attempts to illuminate the issue.
