A December 29th shooting in Janesville may be related to a fatal shooting in Beloit the week before. Gazette Crime reporter Frank Schultz has learned, through the narratives in search warrant requests, a juvenile court petition, and police, those involved in the shooting on Rockport Road, were likely friends of participants accused in the Beloit shooting. Legal sources indicate one of those inside the Janesville house targeted by gunfire was an 18-year-old man who had written angry Facebook posts about the shooting death of 16-year-old Savion Latimer of Beloit on December 23rd. Police say the 18-year-old used social media to express his anger and to threaten the life of the survivor of the gun battle. A 15-year-old friend of the victim is accused of showing up on Rockport Road and firing several shots into the house. Police have arrested him, along with two other suspects, and are seeking a fourth.
