Fatal fire in Janesville has no signs of foul play

No signs of foul play so far when it comes to a fatal downtown Janesville fire.  The Medical Examiners office says investigators are still trying to find dental records to confirm the identity of the male victim.  The medical examiner has not yet released a cause of death.  Janesville police and firefighters responded to the residence in the 600 block of South Main Street about 8:00 Sunday night.  They reported three people were able to get out of the residence.  Firefighters reported finding a 39-year-old’s body in the upper apartment of the two unit house, where they believe the fire started.  Janesville Fire Chief Randy Banker said at a press conference Monday morning that no cause had been determined for the fire.  Officials say the building’s smoke detectors might not have been operational at the time.  The wood frame house’s second floor is a “complete loss,” but the house could still be preserved.  The investigation continues
