The Janesville Police Department is reviving its African-American Liaison Committee. Members are being recruited to advise the department on issues related to African-Americans. City Council President Sam Liebert will co-chair the committee with Officer Brad Rau. Liebert says the previous African-American advisory committee disbanded in part because direction came from the top. He hopes that allowing members to set their own goals will give them a sense of ownership and commitment. The department also has a Latino advisory committee.
