Beloit Regional Hospice and Beloit Health System are looking back on the first year of their merger. Hospice Director Natasha Weberg says one of the most positive outcomes of the merger was the development of an independent Palliative Care program. Weberg says palliative care helps patients with chronic diseases better manage their symptoms and stay in their homes longer. With a growing aging population, she says this care is becoming more important. She says the palliative care program was well received in its first year with 260 referrals and 179 total admissions. She adds it has surpassed their expectations.
