Rock County first responders are getting a lot of use out of the overdose drug naloxone. County Emergency Medical Services Director James MacNeal says the drug, used to counteract the deadly effects of an opioid overdose, was given to patients a record number of 31 times in December. Fire Department Paramedics in Rock County already carry naloxone, but more and more police officers are also being armed with the drug. The latest police department to allow it’s use this week is the Town of Beloit. The town joins a growing list of local law enforcement agencies including Milton, Evansville, and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
