A local state senator is pushing legislation supporting equal pay for women. Janis Ringhand of Evansville says the Equal Pay Enforcement Act is similar to a law repealed by the Republican legislature. The Democrat says under the Act, employers may beheld liable for compensatory and punitive damages, rather than merely proving back pay. She says the previous legislation helped narrow the wage gap for women from the 37th to the 25th widest in the nation.
