Beloit International Film Festival officials are still adding up the numbers, but incoming Executive Director Max Maiken is calling the ten-day movie marathon a success. Maiken expects attendance to be comparable to last year when warm weather also helped with the turn-out. He says a couple of this year’s happy highlights includes the Silent Film Showcase. Organizers had been a little worried, but said it turned out to be a smash with an admirable 90-minute non-stop accompaniment from the Beloit High School Jazz Orchestra. He also says the sing-along, to the Beatles “A Hard Day’s Night” also brought out 300. Attendance at the festival, and other year-round events, totals close to 8000 according to Maiken.
