The School District of Janesville joined an effort to ‘Pay it Forward’ and help families in Rock County that may need diapers, clothing, and other supplies for their young families. Student leaders from Craig and Parker High Schools are uniting this month to help Caritas Food Pantry in Beloit, WI, a non-profit agency that provides assistance to nearly 3,000 families each year.
Recently, Caritas began a diaper and clothing bank for targeted families. This change in focus was made in response to a greater need for diapers and other essentials for young families in the Rock County area. Since July 2016, Caritas distributed more than 18,500 diapers to families in Beloit, Janesville, and throughout Rock County.
To help support this community need, the SDJ is holding a diaper drive during the week of March 13 to 17, 2017. The goal of the drive is to collect 25,000 diapers to be donated to Caritas. In addition to diapers (sizes 0-6), other supplies will be accepted, including diaper wipes and refills, new or gently used clothing up to size 0-4T, and new or gently used books, toys, and toddler supplies. Monetary donations are also welcome and should be paid directly to Caritas Food Pantry, 2840 Prairie Ave, Beloit, WI 53511. Donations may be dropped off during the week of March 13-17, 2017 at any SDJ school, and are welcome from students, families, school staff, and anyone in the community.
