City of Janesville hosts informational session for landlords

The City of Janesville will be holding an informational and training session regarding the City’s Rental Assistance Program for current and prospective landlords who would like to learn more about this program.
The City of Janesville Rent Assistance Program is a Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance program designed to provide rental subsidies to eligible low-income households enabling them to obtain basic, safe and sanitary housing. Tenants contribute 30-40% of their income towards rent and utilities and are free to choose units throughout the City in the private rental market. The City then pays the remaining portion of rent directly to landlords, and in some cases to utility companies on behalf of the family.
The informational session will discuss the benefits of this program to landlords, as well as cover topics such as tenant screening, the housing quality standards inspection, and how to participate. It’s a great opportunity for prospective and current landlords to learn about the program and connect with the Rent Assistance Staff. There will be time for questions following the presentation.
The session will be held at: City Hall, 18 N. Jackson Street, Room 416 on Tuesday March 14, 2017 from Noon-1 OR 5-6 PM.
