Unployment rate increases in Rock County

The unemployment rates in Janesville and Beloit are on the rise. The State Department of Workforce Development reports the January unemployment rate for Janesville is up .6% from December and currently rests at 4.6%.  The rate for Beloit is up 1.1% for January and is currently 5.5%.  The DWD says these figures are not seasonally adjusted and an increase is not unusual because of winter time.  Compared to the same time a year ago, the unemployment rate is slightly lower for both communities.  Statewide the unemployment rate is at its lowest point since 2001.
