Rock County Jail inmate dies of heart condition

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is releasing information regarding a 45-year-old inmate’s death.  Gazette reporter Frank Schultz has learned an autopsy of Sheri Lynn Parker reveals she died of a heart condition.  The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office reports chronic substance abuse also might have contributed to the death.  Reports indicate Parker had been a heroin addict and abused various prescription drugs and alcohol.  Parker was in jail for a probation violation.  Jailers knew she was withdrawing from alcohol and a drug used to treat anxiety and depression.  Jailers moved Parker to the medical unit on April 28 after she complained of stomach and chest pain.  The night of April 29 Parker was taken to the hospital.  Reports indicated she was released the next day, and after jail staff checked on her several times, she was found dead.
