Several civic leaders from Janesville sit down with the governor to discuss inequities in state-imposed levy limits and the State’s shared revenue formula. Forward Janesville Vice President of Government Relations Dan Cunningham says the governor was very receptive Wednesday to the visit which included City Manager Mark Freitag and Assembly Representative Deb Kolste. During the meeting, the Janesville officials explained how the city receives $80 per resident in shared revenue compared to a peer average of $179 per resident. The argument for recalculation comes from a system set back in 2001, when the economy was very different. Cunningham is not optimistic a change will come about any time soon.
