Removal of the Monterey Dam in Janesville could take awhile. Even though the city council has approved its demise, Public Works Director Paul Woodard says design consultants have to be hired, and grants applied for, before demolition begins. Woodard says grants could total in the hundreds-of-thousands of dollars for a project expected to exceed one-million-dollars. Woodard says design work will be done this year, bids would be taken early next year, and the work would be completed early in 2019.
