Beloit man may face additional charges after baby dies

Beloit police plan to sit down with the District Attorney’s office to consider additional charges against a 31-year-old man, following the death of his eight-week-old baby boy.  Deanthony C. Hodges already faces charges of child abuse causing great bodily harm.  A criminal complaint states the child’s mother left the boy in Hodges care on March 20th while she was at work and he claimed to find the boy unconscious in a swing in the living room several hours later.  The complaint adds the baby suffered several skull fractures consistent with “shaking or slamming”.  A doctor at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee described the boy as “effectively brain dead” after the incident.  The child died Sunday.  Hodges is back in court next Tuesday.
