Rock County resident’s health may be improving.

Rock County residents may be climbing out of the basement when it comes to health rankings. County Health Officer Marie-Noel Sandoval says the latest rankings from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation shows slight improvement each of the last few years. Data for Rock County shows smoking, excessive drinking, and teen pregnancy rates have all dropped. Sandoval says more work needs to be done on obesity however. Sandoval says she’s pleased with the trend and expects a number of new partnerships and coalitions to help even more. The Foundation considers health behaviors, available clinical care, socioeconomic factors, and the physical environment. Rock County currently ranks 60th out of Wisconsin’s 72 counties. Among surrounding counties Walworth ranks 44th, Green 18th, Jefferson 9th, and Dane 7th.
