The State Department of Workforce Development is highlighting some positive trends in employment. The DWD is touting initial unemployment insurance claims this year are at their lowest level since 1989. A recent report also indicates unemployment rates went down or stayed the same in February, compared to a year ago, in all but one of Wisconsin’s largest communities. Beloit saw the only up-tick of .1%. Janesville’s unemployment rate dipped .2% year over year. Currently Beloit sits at 6.2% unemployment and Janesville 4.9%. Madison has the lowest unemployment rate at 2.9%.
