Governor Walker visited Milton High School Thursday morning to get a closer look at the district’s school to career programs, and bolster support for the educational portion of his state budget. The Governor applauded Milton’s efforts to help students get an early start on careers with a variety of apprenticeship and cooperative business programs. He called funding a quality education a moral imperative. Not just for students, but for the economy. He talked about opposition in the legislature to his efforts to increase funding for education, but called it necessary to support economic development. He says the jobs are out there, but industry needs skilled workers. A 2014 graduate of Milton in attendance for the governor’s remarks in the high school library, said his career training programs were invaluable. And already at the age of 21 has a full-time job.
