The DNR says fire control resources are already on high alert this spring and Janesville Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Lukas has a few words of advice for anyone burning outdoors. Lukas says pick a day with little or no wind, and have a water source ready to extinguish any unexpected hot spots. Lukas also reminds Janesville residents, the city restricts outdoor burning. He also says if you are burning outdoors to contact the 911 communication center’s non-emergency number at (608)757-244. The DNR reports double the number of wildfires this year compared to last year at the same time.
