After being on high alert last week with wanted man Joseph Jakubowki on the loose, officials with the Janesville School District may be able to let out a sigh of relief.
Janesville Police Chief David Moore says part of the reason the schools went into soft lock down last Thursday was because a citizen reported seeing a man pick up a gun from the terrace in front of Lincoln Elementary School.
Moore says an arrest has been made in that case and it’s unrelated to the hunt for Joseph Jakubowski who never made any direct threats to schools.
Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden says that while Jakubowski never made any threats to schools in his 161 page manifesto he did display a strong anti-religious sentiment. That’s why extra precautions will be taken this weekend surrounding the religious holiday of Easter.
During a news conference Thursday afternoon Moore, and Spoden urged Jakubowski to turn himself in before the situation get any worse.
