The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for parts of the Rock River. The Rock River gauge at Afton registered at the flood stage level of 9 feet early Monday morning. The Nationa Weather Service expects it to peak at 9.2 feet Tuesday afternoon. At this level, minor flood damage occurs to lowland and agricultural land near the river in the Afton and Janesville areas. The river was just barely over its banks at Janesville’s Riverside Park on Saturday. The gauge upstream at Lake Koshkonong, meanwhile, reached 9.5 feet about 6:30 a.m. Monday. Flood stage at that location is 10 feet.
