The Janesville City Council has a new president. The council’s new president may be a reluctant leader though. Unanimously elected during an organizational meeting Tuesday morning, Council President Doug Marklein says he didn’t want, nor campaigned, for the position. More than that, Marklein was nominated by now former council vice president Jens Jorgensen. Marklein apparently appreciates Jorgensen’s insights enough to assign him the council seat next to the president’s. The new council president says he doesn’t have any agenda, other than to listen to ideas, and give everyone a fair hearing. He also expresses confidence in the newly elected council members, and says all the candidates were quality. Rich Gruber was chosen vice president.
