Edgerton residents will have a little more time to consider alternatives for sidewalk maintenance after two deadlines are extended by the city council. Residents will now have until May 15, instead of the end of the month, to tell the city if they plan to fix their sidewalks through the city or a private contractor. The council also extended a June 15 deadline for completion of private work to July 15. Residents became concerned when they got a letter last month saying they’d need to pay the city for the “replacement” of cracked or displaced sidewalks. Some argued it’d be cheaper to have private contractors perform allowable repairs.
