The Janesville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau doles out $26 thousand in grants to help eight local events attract bigger crowds. Bureau Director Christine Rebout will be used for advertising outside Rock County. The targeted events include the Pie Ride, Freedom Fest, Spirits in the Night, U-S Wake Sports Festival, and Wally’s Music Fest. Other efforts include Healthnet of Rock County’s Mental Health Conference, the Milton House Awareness Project, and the Downtown Development Alliance’s Destination Downtown project. The grant program dates back to 1999 when it was used to encourage and support development of new festivals, events, and marketing programs in Janesville.
