Beloit mom charged in infant son’s death

The mother of the seven-week-old Beloit boy who died after being left in the care of his father, is now facing child neglect charges herself.  The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department says the infant’s death was the result of “homicidal abusive head trauma.”  32-year-old Deanthony C. Hodges was charged in Rock County Court of neglecting and causing great bodily harm to his infant son, days before the child died.  Officials say 29-year-old Jessica Nelson and Hodges had previously been investigated for child abuse about 18 months prior to this case.  The criminal complaint says Nelson should not have left the baby in the care of Hodges.  Nelson was in court Thursday for an initial appearance on a charge of neglecting a child causing death.
