While most of the 723 semifinalists for the 2017 Presidential Scholar awards are identified based on their exceptional performance on the ACT or SAT college admissions tests, one student from Janesville is among a handful being recognized for their accomplishments in the career and technical education fields.
Out of a total of three-point-five million graduating seniors, Craig High School student Alex Krueger is one of 15 from Wisconsin chosen as semi-finalists for what is considered the nation’s highest honor for 12th graders.
The 161 students who are picked as winners will travel to the White House in June.
The Presidential Scholars program was established in 1964 to recognize and honor some of the country’s most distinguished high school students.
