Construction of a $34 million residence hall for UW-Whitewater clears its last legislative hurdle. State Representative Janis Ringhand of Evansville says Whitewater has had a housing shortage for ten-years. The Democrat says the school has been contracting housing for hundreds of students off-campus. Ringhand is a member of the state Building Commission which unanimously approved the design and authority to construct the hall, which will house more than 400 students, and should be constructed by the fall of 2019. The new dorm will be the schools first “pod-style” living unit, and will be constructed along Warhawk Drive north of the campus visitor center.
