The Janesville Fire Department is investigating the cause of a weekend fire on the city’s south side. A family of three was displace by the fire reported just before 9:00 o’clock Saturday morning at a house in the 200 block of South Pearl Street. Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming out of a window on the south side of the house. Firefighters say the occupants, a man and two children, had escaped the blaze, and were not injured. The fire caused about $33,000 in damage to the house. The residents are staying with family members.
