Rotary Botanical Gardens hosts spring plant sale

The annual Spring Plant Sale, held at the Rotary Botanical Gardens Horticulture Center, located east of the Gardens at 825 Sharon Road, Janesville, WI, 53545, will open one day early this year. Community members are invited to shop the sale Friday, May 12, Saturday, May 13, and Sunday, May 14. In addition to an extra day of shopping, extended hours should accommodate those with busy schedules. The sale will open promptly at 9 a.m. and will run until 6 p.m.

The Spring Plant sale is open to the general public on Friday through Sunday. Those with a valid Rotary Botanical Gardens Friends membership will receive a 10% discount on purchases. If shoppers are interested in receiving the discount, they may sign up for a membership at the plant sale, and immediately receive 10% off their purchase. Memberships are also available online at www.rotarybotanicalgardens.org or on-site at Rotary Botanical Gardens.

Included in the Spring Sale will be a wide range of vegetables, herbs, perennials, and shrubs. A detailed and printable list of the vegetables and herbs is available at www.rotarybotanicalgardens.org. In addition to a plant list, the Rotary Botanical Gardens website offers printable instructions on how to create your own 19th Century Heirloom Garden at home, using plants purchased from the sale.

In the past, Friday of the Plant Sale weekend has been dedicated to RBG Friends members, as a perk, where they may shop before the sale opens to the general public. New this year is an exclusive event for Friends members only: the Plant Sale Preview Reception. This evening event will be held on Thursday, May 11 at the Rotary Botanical Gardens Horticulture Center. Members only are invited to shop the sale, mingle with other members, and enjoy light refreshments from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memberships will not be sold during this evening event, which is open to current members only.

“We welcome returning shoppers and those who have never experienced the sale before, as we have a wide range of plants for any garden,” said Rotary Botanical Gardens Horticulture Director, Mark Dwyer. “Your purchases support the continued maintenance and improvement of Rotary Botanical Gardens,” he added.
