Wind and rain may have helped the Town of Beloit Fire Department keep a car fire from spreading to a nearby house. Town of Beloit firefighters say they found a car fully involved in flames when they responded to a home in the 2200 block of South Nye School Road a little after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say the car was burning about five-feet from the house. Firefighters say it was raining, and the wind was blowing in a favorable direction, which helped them keep the blaze from threatening the house. Investigators say the owner had been cutting the muffler when it burst into flames.
