A simple accident is being blamed for a house fire in the 500 block of Center Avenue in Janesville early Wednesday night. Fire officials say the home owner was renovating the second floor of a rental, and was using candles to deal with the smell. While removing garbage from the apartment, a candle was tipped over and started some debris burning. Since the owner knew where and how the fire started, firefighters were able to make quick work of it. Damage to the structure is listed at about $30,000.
